This morning during my “quiet time” I often read something and ponder, “What was the thinking behind the script or what inspired the author to pen this thought?” In other words, it is my attempt to get into the mind of the author. I have done that with several authors and this morning, my eyes gazed on Marianne William’s - “Our Greatest Fear”. I have had this poem posted on the cork board in front of my desk and I have read it a zillion times and glanced at a zillion times more. Today, I made the conscious, committed decision to read between the lines.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
To decode some of this, I must go all the way back to Genesis, “Then, Eloheim said, “Let us make man mankind in our image and likeness . . .”” In the original Hebrew, the word Eloheim or the current Elohim was plural for “Gods” hence, Father, Son and Holy Spirit”. There are several other scriptures throughout the Bible that support this and it is not my intention to go down those paths at this time.
Because we were created in the image and the likeness of God, we, like Thomas Troward states in the chapter, “Affirmative Power” from his book “The Hidden Power” have the ability to wield the Creative Power that creates. Not on the grandiose scale of God, but on a more limited scale. We have the ability to create our lives. It is this ability to create either consciously or unconsciously that scares us. This was often eluded to by Hill in many of his writings especially in his book, “Outwitting the Devil”. Sadly, far to many people go through life playing it safe. They managed to make it from the cradle to the grave and never took that chance to step beyond their own beliefs to let their light shine.
We all know that we have the ability to be, do or have. We seem to lack the Self-Confidence that Hill talks about especially when I read and re-read the “Self Confidence Formula”. For some strange reason, we can see abilities in others, however, we are unable to see those same qualities within ourselves, so we remain stuck, woefully trapped within the prison known as our Paradigm. We all have the light of Spirit that burns deeply within our soul and for some reason, only be known to ourselves, we choose to put our light under covers rather than letting it be a beacon for others. Perhaps, it is because our “friends” or loved one fear that we will move on and leave them behind. Perhaps it is their fears that hold us back from taking that leap of faith. One thing I have learned, some people are very resistant to change. They get stuck in the familiar and the comfortable also known as their habits. We are creatures of habit. I have been tried, convicted and in-prisoned on this many times. My jailor? Me. I am free to walk out of this self-imposed prison at any time. Many do not, and here they remain - in a prison they are not even aware of.
Who are you? Who are you not to be, do or have? Who are you not to be the one who inspires others, to lead and set the example for others to follow? We were all created by the Creator - in His image and likeness. We are all His children. God did not create junk. Everything and everyone has a purpose.
Very interesting and it goes deep I think. I will have to come back to this later tonight and think about it.
I love that ... God did not great junk. A little off topic, however, the children of God create junk ... junk in the mind, thoughts, deeds, and earth.
Enjoy this blessed and beautiful day.

Michael, that is very, very deep thinking you did today! I have to agree with much of it. I really liked the poem, and have often said that I am most afraid of the power that is within. I use an example, when people look at me like I have 3 heads,...
If I were to be able to move this pencil by sheer thought, I would be so afraid when it moved that I would not be able to tell anyone, nor would I ever try it again.
One other thing that has come to my attention through my own learning process is that looking for approval from anyone other than myself is also pointless. Looking for another to make me happy, feel safe, feel loved, all of these things are pointless.
Anyway, love the post, very thought provoking and right on target as far as I am concerned!

Hi Michael -- nice to "see" you here. It's always interesting to me to discover something new or a new way to look at a subject even if I have seen it many times in the past. Obviously, it was the right time for you to find it once again.
Yes, this poem is one of my mentor Joe Stumpf of By Referral Only's favorites.
Michael- it is so good to see you back here. Sometimes what we see daily we pass over because we are not ready to see it. Interesting topic and most definitely food for thought.
I can't believe it's actually you. It has been since July that I have read something from your laptop. I was touched by this blog TeamCHI - Complete Home Inspections, Inc.
Michael I had not read that poem before. While reading many things went through my mind especially with everything going on since the Presidential election.
Thank you TeamCHI - Complete Home Inspections, Inc.

Good mrning TeamCHI - Complete Home Inspections, Inc. ,
I'm so glad Kathy Streib featured your post in her "Ah-Ha" moments for the week. Thought provoking post definitely and interesting topic. Glad to see you back writing and giving us messages we all need to take time to think about.
Hi Michaek
Nice to see you back here writing again. And especially glad to see that Kathy called out this inspiring post. Thanks for a powerful message for us to ponder!
Jeff
Michael, where you been? Nice to see you back and thank you for commenting, love the fact that you had a sense of humor on my post and I see here a deep thinking post on your own. It is a good balance, Endre
Good to see you back, Michael...sorely missed...I do believe the fear we all have at one time is of loss..whatever it may be and suffering comes from it...learn to release it and you grow & experience gratitude for all you have...have a great day.
Michael, I have always loved the moments when you stop, get quiet and ponder. I am very familiar with Marianne Williams from years of getting the magazine Science of Mind. Your profound thoughts are monumental and I wish that the whole entire world would read this.
I am not familiar with some of these authors/books, but I will check them out. Have you read The Power of Now by Eckhardt Tolle?

Hi Michael, this is a very timely post, so glad Kathy Streib included it in her weekly. Our creator did not create junk, he also gave us free will to produce junk if we so choose. We can have anything and be anything we desire but sometimes we get in our own way.
Life should be a matter of ever evolving especially when it comes to our personal lives. Nice to see you again
Hi Michael, Glad I saw this. The times are in turmoil and we are causing so much of it ourselves. Hope you are in a good place in your life and happy to see you stop back in.
Nice to see you back here in the rain, and hope we'll see more of you soon.
