If you fly to Daytona, you would usually fly to Orlando International Airport, rent a car and drive about 75 miles to Daytona Beach.
Of course, you can fly to Jacksonville, but it is farther from Daytona, and Orlando is still a busier airport with more flights, so it is easier to fly to Orlando.
Yes, but why not fly straight to Daytona Beach? There is such thing as Daytona International Airport, a beautiful and quiet place right off International Speedway Blvd.
Turns out it was inconvenient. You either had to change a plane in Atlanta, or in Charlotte. With JetBlue daily direct flights connecting Daytona beach and New York, it is already a big deal.
So big that air traffic this year so far is the strongest in nearly 20 years, according to the article in News-Journal. And this brings hope that the airport would get even busier… and who knows, maybe one day we would even see a plane from abroad… Should we justify International in the name of the airport?
Well, at least now there is hope.
