A Charity that Really hits Home - Rocky Mountain Diaper Depot Over the years we see a lot of charities, we get asked to participate and to give to various charities through out the year and I have come across two that are near and dear to my heart.
The First is The Rocky Mountain Diaper Depot, this non-profit was formed a little over 3 years ago by two
sets of former clients, one, a hospital administrator and her husband, and a retired MD and her husband. They both saw the need for parents in low income situations struggling to feed their children let alone keep them in clean diapers. I will not go into the graphic details of the deplorable conditions that many of Americas children live in, you can go to the site above and read for your self. Let's just say, that these children have no choice in this and it is sad that they have to live in these conditions.
The Rocky Mountain Diaper Depot annually collects around 100K diapers and wipes to donate to shelters and various church organizations through-out Denver to help these often times single parents help keep disease from their babies. If you are a parent you know how important it is to keep those little butts dry and clean.
These clients asked me to be the chairperson of the annual Knolls Diaper Drive, which occurs every October and coincides with National Make A Difference Day, that falls on the 4th Saturday of October. This year The Knolls collected over 15,500 diapers and another 217 packs of wipes to add to our 3 year total of 51,298 diapers and 632 wipes.
