You Should be Thankful

If you are currently licensed to practice real estate, you should be thankful.  We live in a country that allows us to do what we enjoy doing and yet, we get paid to do it.  We chose a career field that does not require a college degree, a huge capital investment and a monthly overhead that is impossible to meet.

If you not only practice real estate, but if you support a family through your practice of real estate, you should be thankful.  Statistics show that the average real estate agent doesn’t earn what we typically consider “big bucks.”  The interesting thing about that fact, however, is that real estate agents have the opportunity to earn more, and you should be thankful that you are not bound to a precise salary or hourly wage under some company’s control.  The myth that real estate agents are rich and make tons of money needs to be broken, but that’s left for another blog another day.

This is the time of year that we are most aware of the blessings that have befallen us, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we should all be thankful for those blessings.  As for me, I am always truly thankful for health, family and business.  Our goals in operating TEAM Hughes Real Estate School have changed dramatically over the past couple of years, but we remain humble and thankful that we are still teaching effectively, and that we’ve expanded more than we had anticipated.

Someone recently commented, “You should be thankful that you can still work.”  Mind you, I don’t consider Bob or me decrepit quite yet, but all in all, we are thankful that we not only are physically able to work, but that we have an opportunity to do what we love, and that’s to pass on information to others, to instruct in such a way that will help make others successful.

Compared to some of my other blogs, this is a relatively short one and is only being written to remind you that you should be thankful.  With all the turmoil surrounding the past few months, with all the uncertainty that lies before us in the new year, and with all the wonderment that usually attaches itself to holidays, we sit in the most comfortable, the most reachable and the most freeing country in the world.  When we wake up each morning, instead of determining what kind of bickering we can do today, we should be thankful that we are alive!  Unless you are a person of faith, the alternative may not be very appealing.

TEAM Hughes wishes you a wonderful Thanksgiving and a joyous start to the holiday season.  We hope you are thankful, and we want to thank each and every one of you who has helped make our school the success it is today.  Call us if you need us – we’re here for you!
