Thankful to Be Here

Debbie Reynolds, in the 10 Day Thanksgiving Post Challenge,  has asked us to use these remaining days before Thanksgiving to voice what we are thankful for.

grandma and me

My grandmother and me in a field of Texas Bluebonnets

Since I was a young girl, I can remember being grateful to both sets of my grandparents for finding their way to this country so that my parents and all of those who followed could be born here in the United States.

I know that many of you did immigrate here, and you have my utmost admiration.  I cannot imagine what it would be like to leave your home country and make another country your new home.

I love our country, flaws and all.

I love the people who make up our country, flaws and all.

I love that, like families, we argue with each other and don’t always agree, but in the end, we come together to support and help each other.

So Thank You to my grandparents for paving the way.

Like you all four of my grandparents were immigrants, three from Ireland and one from Norway. I am grateful they made the journey, survived the many challenges of building a life here and raised their children who became my parents. Thanks for sharing this sweet photo of you and your grandmother.

Hi Kathy... thanks for this wonderful tribute to your grandparents. Since I'm the first of my family's generation to arrive here, I'd like to think future generations might have a similar tribute.

Kathy Streib - the path they paved for us - made us who we are  today! Yes, thankful for showing us the right path!

I was not fortunate enough to have any memories of my grandparents - my parents filled in that void.

Good morning Kathy.  I am thankful they did also, as those of us who follow you here in the Rain would not have the pleasure of learning from your insight and knowledge.
