My inner time clock is out of whack.

Real Estate Broker/Owner CA#01772851 HI#RB21268

Hella Rothwell Broker/Owner Honolulu HawaiiAm I the only one being affected by the shorter days and longer nights? I seem to be working at the oddest hours such as right now when it is 3:37 AM -- and I've been at it for a couple of hours. I had taken some photos for a listing and needed to get them up on the MLS. There is a caravan starting at 9 AM this morning.

And on Tuesday, I got up at 2 AM to get on the road to drive north (8 hours north) to beat the rush hour traffic through San Jose and San Francisco and meet a client in the afternoon.

The week before that, I would wake up at 4 AM and start studying the Continuing Education courses I needed so that I could renew my Hawaii Brokers license that expires at the end of the year. The real estate commission actually wants us to renew by November 30 just so we don't get jammed up at the last minute and possibly not be officially licensed. Studying during the daylight hours? Not an option, too much going on. For the first time in a long time I would go to sleep at 9 PM.

Clients, also, call me at the oddest hour and those I don't mind. However, I had one text me about 10:30 PM and, although I was still up, I didn't hear the 'ding' so didn't answer. Now I feel bad! Yes, I know, I shouldn't but there you are.

Will it settle down?

I don't think so because everyone is already talking about taking off for Thanksgiving and there is still so much that I want to get accomplished this week. Next week will probably be a dead loss. And after that it's a quick two weeks until Christmas.

Bought a one-way ticket to Hawaii to be with my grandkids over Christmas. This is a first! I just have no clue when I need to be back in California. But you know me, I will jump on that airplane and cross the Pacific at the drop of a hat.

The other reason I am going to Hawaii is because I have been nominated for the

Aloha Aina REALTOR(R) Awards Program 2016.

More on that in a separate blog!!

Yes, that's why I wear hats these days, so I can drop it!

The switch from daylight saving time always manages to mess with my inner clock for a few days too, Hella!  And, I prefer daylight saving time, so it doesn't help this time of year.

Good morning Hella,

The first day was the worse and then it was off to the races.

The time changes and seasons don't affect me as much as having meetings at odd times. I started Sunday night with the search committee to find a new CEO if our state organization that ended Tuesday afternoon, so I have become convinced today is Friday, not Thursday.

Hella, The time change is not impacting me. At least not that I am aware of. There is a lot going on. I had a spell where I was waking up at odd hours in the morning.  Congratulations on being nominated for the Aloha Aina REALTOR(R) Awards Program 2016.

I think that the change in the number of daylight hours has definitely taken a toll, Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor®.  The last couple of weeks at work has been a little out of sync.  From now until the Holidays are over ... that historically seems to be the "norm" with regards to life ...

I'm definitely noticing the time switch. I haven't lived this far north (NYC) in a few years, so the sunset coming earlier at the same time as daylight savings has definitely thrown me for a loop. I suppose all that matters is how we adjust and make sure all of our responsibilities are taken care of, even if it is in the middle of the night!

The time change hasn't affected me as drastically as I thought it would.  Just my mood.  I get a little down this time of year, but have lots of lights on in the house to compensate.

Me, too. I hate it when it's pitch black outside at 4:30 PM. I hate waiting an extra hour for dinner due to the stupid time change. I don't even have breakfast until 10 AM most mornings, although I am at work by 7 AM. I sometimes don't grab lunch until 3 PM because I'm so busy.

One thing I am looking forward to is hopping on the plane December 1 to stay at my new house you helped me buy in Hawaii! Since I know I won't be ready to come back to Sacramento by the end of December, I am flying to Maui in January. We should maybe meet up in Maui? Grab the boat to Lanai for lunch at Four Seasons?
