The Opportunity to Serve Others
When I read about Belinda Spillman's November AR contest, I didn't know what to write about. Like many of you, I do things throughout the year, not just at the holidays. Also, I'm not really looking for "credit" for these things.
When I finally made the decision about my "topic" I ran out of time! The contest ended on Wednesday and I was busy with a new listing. So here I am. I'm still writing my post because I started it and I want to finish it!
A few years ago, Rich and I decided we wanted to find a way to uniquely support and serve the local Senior Center. The Parker Senior Center serves lunch daily, Monday through Friday. Once a month, they have their birthday/anniversary lunch. Anyone who has a birthday or wedding anniversary in that month gets a free lunch and we all sing to celebrate.
So, how do we support and serve? We bring in dessert for the monthly birthday/anniversary lunch! We usually bring a large white or chocoate sheet cake and some assorted pies. We also SERVE lunch (with a few other helpers) to all the folks who come for lunch that day!
These photos were taken July 2014.
We've been doing this about 2 years and love the opportunity to literally SERVE others!
