If you haven’t heard the news yet, I’ve launched a brand new version of my real estate planner on Kickstarter just two days ago. I’m gratified to see all the support that I’ve received thus far, and hope you will check it out. In Pipeline Planner, I’ve built on the feedback from my previous edition, which was endorsed by ABC Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran. In reference to the previous version, she said:“This clever book is a business coach and an accountability tool all in less than 250 pages. Read it, use it, and watch your productivity skyrocket!” —Barbara Corcoran
In creating the new version, I’ve also taken into account changes to the real estate industry over the last three years—including social media, productivity, and lead generation trends among others.
Real Estate Agents Aren’t Perfect (Rather… I’m not Perfect)
As someone who has experience in several roles in the real estate industry and as someone who has a little bit of life experience at this point, I’d say I’ve made a lot of mistakes. That’s the thing about real estate, you can be in the industry for 5, 10, 20, or even 30 years and there is still something to learn. If I had to reflect on my career thus far, I’d say that like most, I've learned from experience. What is it that Henry Ford said? “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” I’ve worked with thousands of agents and can see that many of us have the same challenges in real estate, and that’s why Pipeline Planner was born.
3 Biggest Mistakes Made by Real Estate Agents
Here are the three biggest mistakes agents make, and what can be done about fixing them.
- Lack of planning. In order to meet your monthly, weekly, and annual business and income goals, you need a good solid plan. You cannot just wake up in the morning, hop onto Facebook or Snapchat, and expect the buyer and seller prospects to flow in. You’ve got to have a plan.
Not only does Pipeline Planner have a business goal setting section in the front matter, but it also contacts weekly planning and reflection pages and monthly reflection pages. The prompts, reflective questions, and information provided on these pages provides a pathway to more working your plan with intention.
- Lack of Clarity. One of the best ways to get what you want is to really hunker down and focus on your business. Not only is it about the data, but you also need to reflect on your own character traits and the things you succeed at in business.
Each week, Pipeline Planner has a journaling and notes page with a thought-provoking question and a motivational quote—both created to help increase your own clarity about your business. And, if you like journaling, I’ve even created a 65-page full color journal and motivational quote book, which will give you additional space and time to really have a heart-to-heart with your business.
- Focus on outcome over process. I’ve met lots of agents that are so focused on the data that they do not realize the most important aspect of the real estate business: if you continue your daily processes no matter the market, you will have continued success in real estate. This could mean always sending an email newsletter on a certain day of the week, regular social media posting, or phone calls scheduled at certain times. Focusing on the process will lead to positive outcomes.
The Hot Tips & Bright Ideas section of Pipeline Planner will provide you with a weekly tip about a process or activity that will help you to see increased success and more closings.
If you have experience in the field of real estate, then you have likely been through the wringer on more than one occasion. Nevertheless, a good daily planner and the discipline to use it can help you stay the course. I’d be honored and humbled if you could go check out the Kickstarter campaign. If you like what you see, feel free to back the project and share it with your friends and colleagues. To borrow a phrase from Barbara Corcoran, “watch your productivity skyrocket!”
