Day 3 Activerain Thanksgiving Challenge
I’m Thankful for My Family
The 10-day Thanksgiving Post Challenge is being sponsored by the “Real” Debbie Reynolds. It started Tuesday November 15 and runs through Thanksgiving Day with opportunities for us to share why we are thankful!
No doubt we have many things, and people, to be thankful for, and this is a heartfelt way to share our thoughts with others.
My thoughts today are about how thankful I am for my family. I could go on and on, but let’s keep it simple!
First and foremost I am thankful for my wife, Kay (see the past anniversary celebration on the beach above) – I suppose that sounds trite but it’s not. She puts up with me, inspires and encourages me, and completes my life in ways that go beyond words. And after 37 years of marriage, we know each other pretty well, but life is never boring and not always predictable. That's a good thing!
I have two grown daughters who are wonderful adults and parents, who have married husbands that would make any Dad proud, and are raising grandchildren who are special beyond words. Thankfully we are all now on the West Coast and within a couple of hours of each other, so between visits and Facetime our family time is very special and can happen when we least expect it!
My Mom lives close by and at 92 is still doing pretty well. I helped her move from the East Coast to Carlsbad several years ago after my only sibling, my sister, passed away from cancer. We’re thankful she is close by where we can help as needed, enjoy time together, and she is able to maintain a good life despite many changes and health issues in the last few years. I helped her buy her condo and she is always interested in what's going on in the RE biz at my end!
My family has always been supportive, for years now, and puts up with my sometimes crazy schedule, my moodiness, and the occasional interruptions to family life. I could not do what I have done for 15 years without their support, encouragement, questions and understanding.
