Thankful for our Home Day 5

There isn't a day that goes by that Gary and I don't mention how grateful we are for living in our lovely home!  We entertain A LOT of friends and family and the picture above is just one glimpse of the many  parties we've hosted over the 18+ years we've lived here. It makes me smile just thinking of all the wonderful people that have come through our front door and felt right at home. Many folks mention - your home is so comfortable and it always feels so warm and welcoming! Of course that always makes us feel good to know they feel at home and can relax.

We've made a lot of changes over the years and our home is a constant work of art in progress.  I have enjoyed decorating and design since I was a little girl - thanks to my Mom!  She used to let me paint and decorate the 'kids room' and my room in whatever colors  I wanted.  She was brave I might add because I had some pretty wild ideas!  I used to be a designer (before real estate or was that another life LOL)...

Even Gary has gotten used to things changing around here quite often! At first he wasn't too keen on 'change' but now he looks forward to it.  In fact, he just mentioned that to me while we were out hiking this morning.  He's looking forward to fall getting packed away and Christmas Coming Alive.  And I am too!

Every night when we sit down in our living room to enjoy a glass of wine and talk about our day we almost always mention what a beautiful home we have and how thankful we are to enjoy it as much as we do.  It's such a wonderful feeling!  And that's why I love my real estate career as much as I do. I get to help folks create that sense of 'home' every single day!  Doesn't get any better than that!

Anna Banana Kruchten - Too few people entertain in their home anymore including me. Home is more of a sanctuary to rest up and get back out there. So glad that you have not changed your ways in 18 years.

The home like a community is what makes the four walls, floor, roof what it is. When the kids are grown, up and out it feels differently. Even if everyone is home for holidays etc.  Their bedrooms are empty and you enjoyed the primary home more when they were not as a single full time Dad of 4. I find travel happens now and many folks invest in second homes on water, throw away a snow shovel and buy a winter place too for a third location home. So "home is where the heart is" can be mobile... three places in low cost markets where you can have seasonal homes in the living rotation. Pass the swedish meatballs could you please... ?

Hi Anna, I complain about my home a lot - this needs work and that needs updating, this room is too small and the neighbors too close. But! I'm always happy opening my front door after a vacation or a particularly difficult day being out and about. I've spent the last 3 years redecorating and making it reflect my personality. It's comforting being home.
