Ray & Grace

Remembering Their Anniversary

November 19th, 1949 - Wedding Day

Today would have been their 57th Anniversary.  We miss them dearly. Every holiday except Thanksgiving we would celebrate.  After all, their home was our focal point.  The home I mentioned in Day 2, was similar to their home. There was a pool and and game room and a huge family room.  The kitchen was designed ahead of it's time back in 1960.  It was open to the family room! My children grew up enjoying all the holidays here.

Speaking of spirit...Ray and Grace were two people who were always the life of the party. In fact, they were the party!  They lived life to the fullest and I am glad to have known them until they passed.

So Ray and Grace, as I remember you today, I am thankful you made me feel welcome in your family.  I never felt anything other than being your daughter and I am glad you got to spend many wonderful years with your grandchildren.

Hi Sheri -- this is a very thoughtful post filled with much of what makes Thanksgiving such an important day -- the memories, the fun times, the stories, togetherness and so much more.

Thanksgiving can be a little bitter sweet at times, because there are loved ones that will be missing from the table.  But, the memories remain, and that is a good thing!

Thank you all for those kind words. My husband and I met at the very young age  of 18 and both sets of parents made us feel like their children...not an in-law. We were able to enjoy them for 25 to 30 years after we had met.  Yes it can be bitter sweet but we do have our memories and our values and legacy that we can pass from them to our own children and grandchildren. So they always live on within us!
