I'm thankful for my co-workers
I am very lucky and blessed with the most amazing co-workers. In fact everywhere I have worked in real estate I have been blessed with wonderful supportive, knowledgeable co-workers.
When I started in real estate,Trudy had already been busy selling homes for four years. So I joined her in her office, although she let me know I had to stand on my own two feet and she was not sharing any business with me. I made lots of friends there and many of those agents were older and could help you tremendously when you had an issue as a newbie.
Towards the end of my first year, Trudy decided we needed to move brokerage, she had been itching to do this for a while, we ended moving to an office nearby with a leading broker. Once again I was blessed with wonderful co-workers. Our son had joined the Marines, gone through boot-camp and infantry training, and was now part of Recon Battalion, a special forces element of the Marines. He departed for two tours of Iraq and our office was amazing in bringing in things to send to him and his friends. They understood the stress we went through when he was away and we definitely felt supported and looked after. It was like a large family.
But brokerages have their rules and after two years we felt the need to move again to Long & Foster in Devon. Once again I found a team of professional agents, who got down to business and work hard, but always willing to help you if you need it. As an office we support many charities and events and everyone is willing to contribute and support each other in their efforts.
But not only am I thankful for all the co-workers in my offices, but those in our area are so professional. Sure there is the odd one or two who make life difficult, but overall, everyone is top notch. We like each other and although we are all in competition with each other when you have one on the other side of a transaction you know they will help you if needed without breaking their fiduciary duty to their client. They may be at a house to open a door, or help move things out before a settlement because an elderly client has not been able to get everything out. It is what the code of ethics means when it talks about cooperation and I have to say I have been very lucky in having some of the best co-workers in the business. Thank you to you all.
