Protect Your Accounts - Scams and Fraud is Everywhere

I read an article this morning on Google about scams and fraud on the rise especially over the holidays.  It was very informative.

Afterwards I logged into my bank account and there was an unauthorized credit card payment of $750 that had been taken from my bank account.  Do you know, it took me almost 2 hours on the phone and being transferred 10 times before someone told me I had to go into the branch and fill out a form.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is a scam or fraud.

Pay particular attention to your accounts and watch for irregular charges.  They could be small to start (test charges to see if the account is good) and will be followed with larger ones.

Beware of telemarketers offering sales and discounts on products, trips, hotel stays etc...

Also beward of people saying they are your friend and asking you to send them money, always verify, call your friend direct on the phone and hear their voice, online tricksters are everywhere.

Pay attention to your accounts so that you'll be ready to buy that home in the new year.

Happy Holidays!!

I have been hit a couple times this year.  Bank of America has great features in place to protect your bank accounts with multiple layers of logins.

Ugh June! But I'm glad you caught it early and got it resolved. My Credit Union has also stepped up its safeguarding features. One time, when I was visiting Germany, they called within hours of me getting cash from an ATM. I liked that a lot!

My family has had some trouble visiting here. Just a bit of shopping and a couple restaurant visits and their cards were compromised. Their bank was on top of it, thankfully, but it makes you wonder.
