Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort Snow Making

This has been one of my favorite photographs since first taking it.  At Schweitzer Ski Resort, in Sandpoint Idaho, mid morning with cold temperatures enabling snow making.  The photo shows so much.  The contrasts in colors from the clean sharp white snow, the yellow of the snow making machine, to the deep blue just above the dark trees and ridge. The corduroy design, from a grooming machine, showing the recently spread snow.

From my snow making days I can also appreciate the perfect conditions to create such good snow.  Mid teens in temperatures.  You can see the fresh pile being created with the more distant snow machine.  This style gun is actually airless so the fan alone is what pushes the water away from the guns.  There is no distance at all between gun and snow.  Snow making piles of snow are actually best left to sit for a while for better quality snow.

Enjoy the change of pace Living In North Idaho will make.  Contact me as your local North Idaho Real Estate Resource.

Mark even though we have gotten are share of snow around here the last few years it is still common to see the snow making machines going full blast in between snow storms.

Mark hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and funny about the snow...I will not tell you that it was 78 degrees here in Los Angeles.... Diane went to pick up the Pies and I asked her to stop in the store...she had to come first because we did not want my assistant to bake in the car....Endre

Good morning Endre Barath, Jr. .  I think I have told you that I am born and raised Southern California.  From the Temple City Alhambra direction to Newport Beaches with much inbetween.  When I roughnecked in Oklahoma I found I really liked the four seasons.  That has not changed.  The year round 70's was great for when I was a body surfer enjoying the wedge.  Not ironically what I constantly miss today are the beaches, feel of the sand and sound of waves slapping.   I trust you and Diane enjoyed Thanksgiving as well.  Mark

This is an up close and personal picture of the snow making machine.  Luckily, Mother Nature helped out our ski resorts this past week, but they have been busy with their machines as well.
