My Post Thanksgiving Full of Thanks Post

The official day of giving thanks is almost over and I have just a few more delray beachthings to add .

First of all, I have eaten in one day more than I eat in 3.  I think that I had turkey but quite frankly I think it was hidden under mashed potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn casserole, sweet potato squares and homemade dinner rolls.

Of the 7 pies in attendance, I had half a sliver of 2.

I am thankful that for the next 3 days, I want nothing more to eat but my afternoon hemp protein shake, some fruit, and a light breakfast.

We spent the afternoon and evening with our extended family and had so much fun catching up with everyone but I am talked out.  Everyone speaks at once, so to be heard, you have to push your volume up a notch.  Consequently, my throat is sore and I doubt I will open my mouth to say another word until tomorrow morning.

For that, Larry is thankful.

As soon as this is posted, Larry and I will be at the beach by 7 and will make every attempt to undo the damage we did today.

I am so thankful that we will not have to suffer through this food binge-a-thon until Christmas.

I hope everyone had the Thanksgiving they were hoping for.

Kathy,  hemp protein is my staple in my green smoothies.  Thankfully, there was no stuffing for me, or shall I say, in me yesterday.  I did not do the typical Thanksgiving feast ... I remember those days well ... and how full I felt for days.

Why do we do this to ourselves--this overeating? I was feeling trim and healthy until this week when my eating when bonkers. Well, it's off for a good long hike today, and then hopefully sensible eating habits will return.

Hi Kathy

It sounds like you had exactly the right kind of Thanksgiving, with good food and plenty of it, plus loving famiy around to enjoy and cherish. It's all worth overeating a tad, right?

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Kathy - If you really have to eat a hemp protein shake, at least come out here to Colorado for it - it won't taste any better but you'll have a lot more fun : )

Ron and Alexandra Seigel When I think about what I ate, it really wasn't that much... but more than I'm used to.

Barbara Todaro I wish I had your discipline!  I think I'm so used to not eating much that even though what I ate wasn't that much , it felt like it. But there was  no way I was not having apple pie on Thanksgiving.

Grant Schneider well, the way I look at it, getting to splurge one or two days a year is my reward for eating healthy the rest of the year.

Gita Bantwal Thank you and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving as well.

James Dray I settled for one egg and a piece of toast for breakfast. That's all I wanted.

Hi Kathy Streib ,  I sure am glad these holidays are only once a year.  For the next week, I will be cutting down on the food and ramping up the exercise to get back to where I was a few days ago.

Wednesday night, after spending the entire day preparing and cooking for our feast, I developed a sore throat/cough thing. Practically had laryngitis all day Thursday, but still had a wonderful day with my kids and grands.  It is so frustrating not being able to talk!!!!

Sounds like a wonderful day!  I'm happy for you that you feel talked out.  Better than being alone at Thanksgiving.  I had a wonderful one this year, too, but I remember many Thanksgiving days being alone - no fun!  Have a great week!
