ActiveRain Photography Contest - Miscellaneous

Dick Greenberg has inspired us to share our best photos in 2 categories, Real Estate and Real Life, with several sub-categories in each for the ActiveRain 2016 Photography Contest. You still have 6 more days to get your entry in - deadline is November 30.

Monet photograph

This photo reminded me of Monet's waterlilies, some of his most impressive and famous paintings of his garden at Giverny, France. I thought the photo looked more like an impressionist painting than something taken with a camera. If you've even seen his paintings in real life you know how extraordinary they are.

There was a beautiful koi pond with waterlilies at the resort we stayed at in Maui at Ka'anapali Beach. I took a bunch of pics but thought this was the most interesting.

Nice photo Jeff. You're right it does have that "impressionistic" look. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Thanks Belinda Spillman Of course I only had a small patch of waterlilies in mine but the thought was there. It didn't occur to me at the time.

Hi Jeff - That's a very restful image, and completely different from what it would be with the water still. Thanks for another contest entry (don;t forget to leave a lonk in the contest post!)

Hi Dick Greenberg

Thanks for the compliment! It was a lucky shot and nothing I really planned. Tranquil indeed, as was being in Maui! LOL

Nice work.  It's always fun to try and get some good pictures of koi fish in the pond, but not so easy.

Hi John Wiley  I think sometimes the best things are not planned. It certainly wasn't skill! Thanks for the compliment!

Hi Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089  I actually was able to get some as they came up close thinking I had food.

Nice shot with the reflection of the palm tree in the water. Also looks like you just caught a piece of a fish on the left

I personally love not only Monet, but abstract/watercolor types of art. It's my favorite medium. You're right it does make one think not of a photo, but of some watery brush created wonder. And from Hawaii, one of my favorite places on earth! Love it.
