10 days of Gratitude; Gratitude the Basis for My Goals
I have written about a dozen blogs so far this month relating to gratitude, and will add one more as we finish this weekend of Thanksgiving..
Gratitude is a feeling, an attitude, an appreciation, overall a feeling of thankfulness for the things, people and attributes in our lives.
I have a lot to be thankful for in my life, a great wife, great kids, several businesses, and so much more.
When it all comes down to it, I realize that all of these things that I am grateful for are gifts from God.
It is great to know that whatever I do, wherever I go, God is always walking with me, guiding me, protecting me, leading me in ways that He knows will make my life better, and hopefully the lives of those around me better as well.
Years ago, I learned from Hyrum Smith, the creator of the Franklin Planner system, that for a goal to be successful it must be congruent with our values.
So the logical first step in creating our goals for the next year most always start with an examination of our values.
In examining what we are grateful for will often reveal the values in our lives that are most important.
As I prepare to develop my goals each year, it is important for me to reflect upon the things I am thankful for and what’s most valuable to me.
My goals must then lead towards things that are congruent with my values, enhance my values, and will in a sense lead to more things I am grateful for.
