How To Increase Your Sales in 2017?

As we count the days before the new year, we are also working on our goals, action plans, and execution.
If you were to ask ten real estate agents the best course of action to increase your sales, you will most likely get ten different answers. So, what is the best method? If you are happy with your sales in 2016, obviously what you did worked, so keep doing it.

What if you are a new agent or an agent who is looking to double/triple his/her sales in the coming year?

First and foremost, I suggest you stop listening to everybody else. They have no idea what motivates you, they don’t have a clue what your marketing budget is or how many hours a day/week you work...the list will go on and on...Forget what worked for Real Estate Agent Lisa, instead, work on what YOU are able to do in your market.

Here are some suggestions;

-Set aside some time to work on your goals. Are you looking to double your goals? Don’t write down “sell more homes”, instead put down a realistic number. If you sold five homes in 2016, perhaps you can increase that to nine homes in 2017.
-Write down what it will take you to reach your goal. Perhaps you can work on marketing/lead generating two hours a day. Write down M-F 9-11am lead generation. Now identify what activities you will be doing to generate leads. Could be Facebook advertising, writing at least five handwritten cards a day, mailing letters/postcards or calling expireds and FSBO’s.
-Create a vision board and place it somewhere you can see every day. Don’t do it just to look at some pretty pictures but do it with a belief that everything on that board will come true because you have what it takes.

Do not neglect to put down the amount of money you will spend on marketing, review all the cool gadgets you have and unsubscribe from those that didn’t work for you for the past two years. Write down exactly what you will do each month, if you have a farm of 300 you wish to mail to, write down 300 cardsx12.
Commit to learning each and every day. Make a list of at least four books to read in 2017(if you can read more, better). Follow successful real estate agents. Best place for that is ActiveRain(for me).
Make friends with YouTube. There are so many great videos you can watch and learn in the comfort of your home. No need to spend $5000.00 on a convention in Las Vegas. If it motivates you to go to conventions, then, by all means, keep doing that.

-Write down your goals
-Have specific action plans
-Have daily/weekly/monthly “to-do” lists and stick to it

There's no magic pill, it takes work but you must be consistent. Ohhh..one last thing, if you're not an ActiveRain Rainmaker, become one. This is a great place to learn, meet great professionals, built friendships and increase your sales. Don't take my word for it, ask other members.

You have what it takes, BELIEVE IT!

I think too often Realtors don't budget enough for marketing. I have witnessed this first hand and advertising (the right way for your market and your goals) is a huge factor in exceling and growing your business.

Good morning Carol Lynn Johnson, without marketing, we won't have any business. Whatever that may look like for each person, do it consistently and budget accordingly.

Beth, such a well deserved feature. You're right there's no one size fits all plan and we have to be honest with ourselves about our budget and what we're good at doing. From there we go to work. Awesome post.

Thank you Amanda! We can not compare ourselves to others, we are not them, our goals are not the same, our markets are not the same so what works for someone else might not work for us.

I don't know how today's young agents can be stuck in practices that are 30 years old, but sometimes it seems that way.

When I was licensed in 1985 no one (around here) had ever heard of an agent doing their own marketing. The agency did the marketing. Agents did floor time and picked up clients if they were lucky. No one even talked about prospecting and no one stayed in touch, nurturing past clients for future business and referrals.

Today, an agent who fails to market himself or herself is doomed to failure, but still many resist spending the time or money.

Strange.

The idea of Goal Setting is on most minds.

The idea of writing these goals is on most minds.

The idea of coming out of gates on track for 2017 is on most minds.

Implementation, that is what separates talking versus doing

Hi Beth

This was an excellent post with some really good ideas. What's right for us may be very different than what's right for others, but at the same time we can learn some good strategies and techniques from others who are successful! I have just started on my business and social media plan - plenty of work to still do.

Jeff

What a great "how to" guide that really makes it sounds so simple to do. Breaking it all down into steps and dates really help to stay on course. The way you have explained it doesn't seem so scary at all. We can all do this.

Good Morning, Beth Atalay

First of all, where can I get a living room like that one in your photograph?

Second, what I like about you is you're very honest and compassionate about people and their money. You're right, nobody knows what motivates you and the best advice is to stop trying to believe there's some magic formula that will make you rich or successful. What works well for one, rarely works for another.
