75th Pearl Harbor Commemoration Event

December 7th Attack on Pearl Harbor Ceremony at Kilo Pier

 

Be aware that from Thursday, December 1st through Saturday, December 10th, vehicular traffic will be impacted by the upcoming 75th Commemoration events. Information will be identified including alternative routes, traffic alert systems, parking, and bus transportation options. These measures are being provided to educate motorists, residents and visitors in advance to review their commute plans from December 1 through 10 and especially on December 7, 2016 around Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. These measures include:

 

 

Traffic

 

Waikiki Area (Kalakaua Ave. and Kuhio Ave.):

 

  •        December 1, 2016 (Thurs) 8:30AM to 3:30PM – Installation of French Barricades for Sunset on the Beach.
  •        December 2, 2016 (Fri) 5:00PM to 10:00PM – Kalakaua Ave. Kokohead bound, closed at the Kalakaua Avenue and Monsarrat Avenue split. All traffic will be detoured to Monsarrat Avenue.
  •        December 4, 2016 (Sunday) 5:00 PM to 10:00PM– Kalakaua Ave. Kokohead bound, closed at the Kalakaua Avenue and Monsarrat Avenue split. All traffic will be detoured to Monsarrat Avenue.
  •        December 5, 2016 (Monday) 5:00 PM to 10:30PM– Kalakaua Ave. Kokohead bound, closed at the Kalakaua Avenue and Monsarrat Avenue split. Setup and traffic controls will be similar to Hawaii 5-0 Premier event. All traffic will be detoured to Monsarrat Avenue.
  •        December 7, 2016 (Wednesday) 5:30 PM to 8:30PM, Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade – Kalakaua Avenue closed at the Kalakaua Avenue and Kuhio Avenue split. All traffic will be detoured to Kuhio Avenue. Parade starts at Fort DeRussy to Kapoiolani Park.
  •        December 8, 2016 (Monday) 5:00 PM to 10:00PM– Kalakaua Ave. Kokohead bound, closed at the Kalakaua Avenue and Monsarrat Avenue split. All traffic will be detoured to Monsarrat Avenue.
  •        December 9, 2016 (Monday) 5:00 PM to 10:00PM– Kalakaua Ave. Kokohead bound, closed at the Kalakaua Avenue and Monsarrat Avenue split. All traffic will be detoured to Monsarrat Avenue.

 

Pearl Harbor Area:

 

  •        December 7, 2016 (Wednesday) 4:00AM to 12 Noon – Kamehameha Hwy town bound closed from Honomanu St to Salt Lake Boulevard. All east bound traffic will be diverted onto Moanalua Freeway.
  •        December 7, 2016 (Wednesday) 4:00AM to 7:30AM – Public who are planning to attend the ceremonies should park at Aloha Stadium. Enter through gates #2, #3, and #4. Parking is free until 7:30AM.

 

 

Bus Stops - Wednesday, December 7, 4:00AM to 12:00PM

  • Bus Stop #4322, Arizona Memorial
  1. Close.
  2. Re-open after 12:00PM.
  • Bus Stop #697, Kamehameha Hwy, Ewa side of Arizona Memorial Pl.
    1. Close and Relocate to the town side of Arizona Memorial Pl.
    2. Re-open after 12:00PM.
  • Bus Stops #3353 to 3359, vicinity of Kilo Pier and Navy Supply Center.
    1. Close.
    2. Re-open after 12:00PM

    Bus Routes - Wednesday, December 7, 4:00AM to 12:00PM

    • Routes 9, PH1, PH2, PH3, PH4, PH5, PH6: Inside Joint Base Pearl Harbor
    1. Will not service Navy Supply Center.
    2. Resume service after 12:00PM

    Handi-Van Service - Wednesday, December 7, 4:00AM to 12:00PM

    • Inside Joint Base Pearl Harbor - will not service areas in the vicinity of Kilo Pier and Navy Supply Center.

    Road Closure - Wednesday, December 7, 4:00AM to 12:00PM

    • Kamehameha Hwy., from Honomanu St. to Salt Lake Blvd.
    1. All traffic EXCEPT CITY BUSES will be diverted from Kamehameha Hwy. onto Moanalua Fwy.
    2. Re-open after 12:00PM.

    Bus Riders Attending Pearl Harbor Commemoration at the Arizona Memorial Visitor’s Center

    • Routes 20, 32, 40, 42, 62 have early morning trips (prior to 7:00AM) that service the Kamehameha Hwy bus stops fronting the Arizona Memorial Visitor’s Center – check the schedules at www.thebus.org or call TheBus Route/Schedule Information at 848-5555.

    Westbound Bus Stop #477 Kamehameha Hwy, Kokohead side, opposite Arizona Memorial Pl.

    Eastbound Bus Stop #697 Kamehameha Hwy, town side of Arizona Memorial Pl. (temporary location 4:00AM to 12:00PM)

    Residents and visitors are urged to sign up for Nixle email and cell phone text messages to receive traffic advisories and other important information during the 75th Pearl Harbor Commemoration Events, December 1 to 10, 2016. You can sign-up for an account at www.NIXLE.com. As long as you have unlimited text messaging Nixle is a free service to access.
