I haven’t written an ActiveRain blog post in almost a year…. because I’m not as much of a Realtor as I used to be…
I was a FULL-TIME (and then some) Realtor for 8+ years. I built a reputable business and had established my name in the St. Louis Metro East area. I helped a lot of buyers and sellers, I drove tens of thousands of miles with clients in my car, I was invited to multiple clients’ weddings, I was even on House Hunters.
When my husband and I decided to move to Florida, I was excited to master a whole new market. But, my heart just wasn’t in the day-to-day Realtor grind anymore. I didn’t love my new sales contracts. I hated my new property disclosure forms. I didn’t like that my “clients” were suddenly “customers” and the “transaction” was my “client” – or something like that. No guarantee I even have that outlined correctly.
I still have my license and I sit in a builder’s model home one day a week. I enjoy my weekly 7-hour open house because I’m helping people shop in the neighborhood I live in and love. I can feel good about that. (And, we use the builder’s contract which takes pressure off of me advising which of four potential purchase contracts would be best in any given situation.)
So while I’m not Realtor-ing around the clock… I’ve been WRITING!
I was always happiest on the days that I wrote blog posts about my real estate adventures (and other randomness). Admittedly, my subject matter often strayed to more personal stories - like painting our house or cutting our grass.
So, I've started a new blog (not hosted by a real estate-centered website) where I feel more ok about writing about my new pug puppy and my writing efforts.
I'm working on a BOOK! (It's scary to admit that, but I'm 80,000 words in...)
I'm also exploring some freelance opportunities. (If anyone is interested in help with marketing materials, letters, emails, blog posts, website content, or property descriptions.)
Enough rambling - this is probably my last ActiveRain post (at least for now). I’d love for you to follow me (and my new adventures) at: www.TaraLynnWin.com

Thank for all the comments and support over the years - and hopefully you'll be hearing more from me soon.
