Is it Still a Good Time to Invest in Real Estate?

Probably not.

As a real estate agent we always say, there is no time like the present.  But we know there are better times than others.  As consumers you can't always pick the times you want, your circumstances dictate that.  When you actually do have a choice, chose wisely.

If you own a house, get your house in order.  If you want to move, consider staying put and shoring up your savings.  If you need to move for a job, buy modestly or consider renting for a couple of years.  Your money will buy more in a few years.  If you aren't mortgaged at a competitive rate, refinance and get the lowest rate.  If you need to add on to your house better deals will be coming, so wait if you can.  

Any extra money you have should first go to paying down debt, especially cars and revolving credit, then to savings.  If you are at a low rate on your house don't pay it down unless you can pay it off.  repair yourself to live on less.  If you aren't frugal become more so.  If you can garden in your yard, it would be a good idea. 

If worse times are coming you will be prepared, id not you will still be better off.  There will be a paradigm shift, be prepared.
