TOOT-TOOTING YOUR OWN HORN

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with people first...then business Ran Right Realty 636943 licensed to thrill

There are people who do this and get criticized for it. Then, there are people who don't do this and suffer from it. What is the middle ground here? How does one say or promote what they do and at the same time keep the "I" do this and "I" do that from becoming a boast? The art of marketing should be consulted with

I'M THE ONE!

You can make yourself known without having a call to action. For example: the statement..."Your neighborhood Realtor" doesn't sell it tells. Plumbing specialist does it too. Yet there are professionals or experts out there that believe the extra detail may make a difference for them and for their audience

OVER 30 YEARS IN THE BIZ...I "is"?

You tried the rest now try the best...remember that one! How about sharing how many years you have been practicing? Yes, it sells experience but it also reveals your age too. In the world of marketing, you may have just narrowed your target group. On the other hand, you may just refined it too!

YOU FOUND IT...LOOK NO FURTHER...HERE IT IS?

CALL ME...Why should they? What makes YOU different from the other guy is where the tooting takes place. I don't care much for putting anyone down to get an up position either. However, if you excel in something people have to know but how? I am the best you will ever find or know may be true but how do you say that without saying it?

I'M THE ONE...NOT THE OTHER GUY...ME!

The problem is that everyone says they are the ONE! They are the great, must have, you'll be sorry if you don't call me first.... type person and that you should call now! From the public's point of view, it can become daunting to choose among all the supposed "greats" and must call nows!

WORD OF MOUTH

Word of mouth once established is really the ultimate in NOT tooting your horn anymore because people now make the horn sound with their own mouths touting how good you are and to call you. This takes time to build a base where one tells another who then tells another.

GO TEN MILES AND MAKE A LEFT?

I once went looking for a guy out of reputation in Los Angeles that builds BBQ's out of steel drums. I saw a mailman and thought how much they know about everything and asked him..Do you know of a guy who builds BBQ's? Oh, that's so and so and he directed me to about 10 miles away from where we were

THIS GUY IS THE GUY OF GUYS

When I got to the general area, I asked again and sure enough, the two people I asked said...next block over on the right side. When I got there, the guy was out but his neighbor comes out and says..he will be right back. I can call him for you if you like? I said please do...

YOUR DARN TOOTIN?

When you can reach the point where whole neighborhoods full of people can direct you to a "go to" source, put your tooting horn away for good. You have arrived and others will now do the Tootin for you

Let others toot your horn by asking for testimonials. I find this the number one way to took ones own horn.

I have found that taking pictures of things you do and pictures of what other do-not do is also valuable. One thing that baffles me in this day an age is a home on the market with no flyers in the flyers box. I am sure that you have seen this over and over again. So an example of what I am talking about is, I have pictures of homes with no flyers in the flyer box and I have pictures of several of my listings with the permanent flyers that I attach to the sign. These permanent flyers are very professional looking and you can put QR codes on them. These flyers are very durable and I also save them and take a few along with me to share when I meet with potential sellers.

Great post, Richie Alan Naggar!  Personally, I prefer the word of mouth technique!  Those are the best clients too - there's a trust because someone else they know and love has recommended you!  Happy Thursday!
