Thanksgiving is SO last week. Now, it's time to focus on Christmas! This weekend, the most popular piece of Lake Havasu real estate happens to be the area under the London Bridge. More precisely, the Bridgewater Channel. Why? Because the Havasu Boat Parade of Lights 2016 takes place there. That's why!
Havasu Boat Parade of Lights 2016
Last week, the English Village lit up with thousands of twinkling lights for the annual Festival of Lights. A couple days before that, the Christmas Tree Festival began at the Museum of History. They both continue through the end of the year. However, this weekend provides something truly special. Christmas hits the water with the Havasu Boat Parade of Lights 2016.
First, every one of the 50 or so entries in the Havasu Boat Parade of Lights 2016 light up at the London Bridge Resort's docks at dusk. The public can walk along the docks to view these beauties up close. Then, they make their way along the channel at 6:30pm to the delight of everyone gathered. If you would like to be a part of the procession, download an entry form here, pay your $25 registration fee and join the party! Prizes will be handed out in several different categories. Get your company, church organization, club or civic group involved.
Best Places to View the Havasu Boat Parade of Lights 2016
Everyone wants a peek. Since this often makes it onto the Top 100 US events list, it gets crowded quickly. One good place to see the Havasu Boat Parade of Lights 2016 is in front of the Nautical Beachfront Resort. This also happens to be the starting point of the parade. Rotary Beach, the English Village and along the London Bridge (be safe) provide great vantage points as well. Of course, anywhere along either side of the Bridgewater Channel offers awesome views, too. Bring a lawn chair and come early to scout your spot.
