2nd Try With a Shift in Thinking and Focus

2nd Try With a Shift in Thinking and Focus

I must admit that '2nd Try' is far from accurate yet all the previous efforts were all the same with just different numbers, or numbers in different areas.  After years in Real Estate and being bombarded with #s, how many calls to make, how much to make each month for the year end, and the #s list can go on and on.  Problem was I was like the preverbial fly that kept knocking itself on the window to get out.

Last year I completely stepped back and took a very close look.  What I saw was someone I was not very happy with.  I had moved away from who I am.  I felt my focus need change to be happy with myself again.

Rather than numbers and dollars I chose to form new habits that would help get me to a point that I was satisfied looking myself in the mirror again.  A successful habit being formed after 66 days and more importantly maintained after that.  I found it a tougher task maintaining than creating.

I have fallen very short of the number of habits I thought I would be able to create and maintain.  A pleasant surprise was seeing that in most habits I formed and maintained a side benefit, or unplanned habit, seemed to fall in stride.  I am pleased with my personal growth this year.

My sales are over last year nominally which is OK.  More important I finish this year knowing I am more 'solid' and 'confident' than I have been in a long while.  I am at peace within and actually looking forward to the challenges of 2017.

I will be much more focused on what it takes to 'create and maintain' in order to keep improving myself and that will relate to a healthier business as well.

This years success came not from trying any harder but in focusing on something more important to me.  With the personal and business successes due to that shift in thinking I am looking forward to 2017.

You make important points about changing habits, and especially finding ways that don't have you giving up who you are.

I did a similar thing a few years back.  I was working my butt off working a full time job in the computer industry, selling real estate, and volunteering as an advocate.  I was making good money, but was exhausted, and not enjoying life very much.  I looked around my home and realized I had worked half my life trying to accumulate stuff that I no longer appreciated.  I gave a lot of it away, adopted a simpler lifestyle, that realizes that time, especially free time is a precious commodity!

It's never too late to change direction or shift approaches.  And it is absolutley necessary if you are not happy in how you are going about your job.

I positively love this post Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint.  It takes such courage and strength to share these words...  "What I saw was someone I was not very happy with.  I had moved away from who I am."

Your willingness to be so vulnerably authentic is like passing the mirror to each of us to look inside and determine our own personal happiness and vibrancy for life.  Thank you for choosing to open your heart and soul to us...this is a precious example of the threads of hope and inspiration that unite us all!

Good Morning Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint -  Very instructional post for everyone.  Going forward  the same way when it is not working is Einstein's definition of insanity.  So changing your focus and habits (which is painful) is starting your comeback.  Great Post, Thanks.

Love this post Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint !! I can so relate! Feeling better about yourself and focusing on what works for you professionally, and importantly personally is vital to any kind of success! Good for you! I've changed a lot over the past couple of years too. I've simplified things, block time for my kind of fun and passion, and instigated a ritual starting and ending the day with a glance at goals and what I really need to focus on (that resonates with the inner me)... Happy Holidays! And every success in 2017!

Mark I always hated the Gurus that push # of sales, # of calls # of dollars... never liked them never would follow their "wisdom"... I always felt the right formula is to treat my clients the way I want to be treated... and then the money would come... and it always has....Endre

Mark, to be a happier YOU is one of the most important most simple and hardest to maintain goals we find in life. Even the Dalai Lama has an occasional bad moment!

This video not only talks about happiness but a problem he has on airplanes. Be sure and watch til the end, as it will offer you a different take on him! (And perhaps yourself).

Love you, my friend and am proud of you!
