Change Doesn’t Have to Scare Us

We are creatures of habit and many of us fear changes that come about in life.  Change doesn’t have to scare us, however, and we can embrace the changes as they arise.  Not all change is bad and not all change is good.  If we can face change with a positive attitude, it will make transitions in our lives a whole lot easier.

Change doesn’t have to scare us if we understand the change and as long as we can implement it without disrupting our entire life.  For example, in 2015 everyone was dreading the changes that were coming about with how real estate closings are conducted.  The industry went from a 3-page HUD-1 form to a 5-page Closing Disclosure.  Our routine of reviewing the closing statement was completely turned upside down, and speculation grew that closings would take 30-60 days arbitrarily.  In October, 2015, the changes were implemented, grumblings were heard, and now more than a year later, it has become “normal” and part of the routine.

We are on the cusp of more changes.  Regardless of your political affiliation, you will agree that the state of the economy is up in the air.  Rumors are running rampant, and most people in the industry are bracing themselves for an increase in interest rates.  The market must change.  We cannot continue on the path we’ve seen in the past couple of years.  To do so, would create another bubble, and I, for one, do not want to see people go through what some of them experienced during the last bust.  Now is the time for real estate agents to be listing as many properly priced properties as possible.  This will act as a hedge for you.  You cannot rely on buyers coming just to you!

TEAM Hughes Real Estate School is experiencing change as well.  We never want to create a “tail wagging the dog” situation, so it is necessary to face changes and to not let them scare us.  We are in a growth mode, and we owe that growth to our wonderful students.  Without them, we would not have become as successful as we are.  Change doesn’t have to scare us.  Instead of fear, we are embracing change in a positive manner.  Students have voiced their opinions, and we have listened.  In January, we will be announcing some major changes, and we are excited about them.  Like good real estate agents, we are in the process of planning so that once we implement changes, we will be ready to carry them out.  Our Business Plan will be reflecting growth and changes, and we hope you are working on your Business Plan as well.

If you need help making changes to grow your business, let us know.  Maybe we can help point you in the right direction.  We want you to succeed and we are here if you need us.   Just give us a call!

Good morning Carrie Hughes ,

The only constant in our industry is change. We all knew interest rates couldn't stay this low forever....I remember when I thought 8.5% was a real deal!!
