Bell ringing takes a special place in my heart. It blesses me that the Minnesota Association of Realtors and Edina Realty have created a day for Realtors to support the Salvation Army in this way. It's usually a quite chilly 2 hours out of my day in early Decemember, but it is truly one of my favorites every holiday season.
The Salvation Army has been around a really long time. In fact, they have been around such a long time that they were life saving to my grandfather during the war. He was injured and would not have lived without their services. In return? They asked him to drop a quarter in the buckets every time he passed. So he did... And he also passed the tradiation down.
Taking part in the bell ringing reminds me every year of the heritage that I have. Of the blessing that I have in life because they cared. I hope that I can share that hope and love of people to the next generation. This is the first year my kiddos have rung with me... and I think a new tradition has been born.
