The advantages in buying a house near your current home.

Walt and I have a home under contract so we will be able to have a home that is just "ours".

 

It's about a ten minute drive from our current house.  As I try to picture furniture placement and how I will decorate the new house, it is great that I can go to the house to measure windows and wall and floor spaces.

 

The current owners moved into a rental space when they put the house on the market.  That makes it easy for us. We don't have to interrupt their family time and if they were moving out, it would be difficult to take measurements!

I have a friend getting married next month. They are doing the same thing, getting "their" house. That means two houses to sell and lots of furniture to sell or give away.

Debbie Reynolds,  Walt's house sold and closed in November. He sold or gave away all of his furniture so we only have small things, clothing, keepsakes and his personal items.

Obvious if you are moving near your current home the changes to your life will be minimal you already know the area your friends will likely remain the same etc.

Almost a year ago today, we closed on our house that is close to my old one. I hope to never do that again during the Christmas season.
