A Climb up Mount Calavera in Carlsbad
for my Morning Exercise
It's a beautiful day here and I decided to take a hike up Mount Calavera here in Carlsbad this morning, about a mile from my home.
Not to belittle the hike, but for experienced hikers this is just a big hill, and it sounds more impressive than it is. However couch potatoes might be more impressed!
You can join me on my walk in this LIVE video on Facebook I took a few hours ago (part of it was taken while climbing so it's pretty bumpy).
Mount Calavera is a volcanic plug that was supposedly created from an eruption about 22 million years ago. You can read about Mount Calavera here.
It's pretty steep in places and there are a number of ways up. The hike is well worth it for the 360 degree views for many miles, especially on a day like to day that was so clear - it took about 45 minutes from where I parked to the top, allowing for plenty of photos on the way.
