BEWARE OF Rental Scams on Craigslist.org

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty, LLC

If you are using Craigslist.org to find a place to rent BEWARE!

THIS AD WAS POSTED TO http://pensacola.craigslist.org/ FRADULENTLY!

http://pensacola.craigslist.org/apa/5904746036.html

Hopefully craigslist will take the ad down soon since I reported it. It was hard to find where to report it on their website.  Not very easy to do  at all Craig.  Nobody to call either.

I'm assuming the scammer finds property that is listed by Agents.  I recently just listed the home for sale at 5706 Sparkleberry Lane Pensacola Fl at $350,000 in Nature Trail subdivision which was used in the fraudulent ad.  I spoke with a friend of mine and she experience similar scam when she was relocating to another city and was looking for a place to rent and found homes on craigslist that were not actually for rent.  Vacant homes for sale seem to be the target market.  When I saw the ad I used craigslist  "No contact info?if the poster didn't include a phone number, email, or
other contact info, craigslist can notify them via email."

Just to let you know before we move any further.  I need to understand that there are many fake people on Craigslist. The last time I leased my house and sent the Keys first, the tenant never send my payment until I called the police to get him out. Once bitten twice shy. I will not send my house Keys to anyone until I get a Part payment first. If you don't feel comfortable with this idea please don't bother to contact me. I understand that most people might be nervous because they don't know me but we can talk over the phone, and also send you a contract agreement before any payment is made so that the Applicant can know It is all legit. I took all my time to send this to you because I don't want a tenant that will waste my time. If you don't feel comfortable with my decision don't Contact me pls. Get back to me as soon as you go look at the house. You will not be able to go inside of the house as I have the key with me out. I will Gladly appreciate if you go by the house and Peek through the window to have a better View of the inside of the House.. One more thing. I do want you to understand that I am no more Dealing with the Realtor anymore cos I still have their sign in the yard. So you deal with me Directly

I'm guessing there are a lot of people sending these scammers money.  I hope this blog will save a few nice folks from losing any money.  Just another good reason to use a Realtor.

My neighbor's house was advertised For Sale in a Craigslist scam. They were out of country for a few months and had no idea about the scam until we alerted them.
