Simple Solution for Eyelid Allergy Attack

Last Tuesday, I had to make an eye doctor appointment as my eyelids were constantly bothering me. I felt like I was being stuck with a small pin in my eyelids! Yolanda looked at my eyes on Tuesday morning and told me the eyelids looked bad. She said in no uncertain terms, I needed to go to the eye doctor as soon as possible. Of course I moaned that I did not have time. I knew she was correct and I had made the appointment on the way to work.

Our eye doctor fit me in at 1 PM for an appointment which at least that day was an excellent time. I easily found a parking spot . Finding a spot is usually a huge pain and a luck game. This medical group being the Houston Eye Associates has over 50 doctors all involved with eyes issues and numerous patients. Doctor Kimbrough is an excellent doctor and a good guy if anyone needs a good eye doctor in the Houston area.

Dr. Kimbrough asked me a few questions and looked at my eyes after his technician had done the preliminary work. The Dr. immediately said I had a bad allergy attack of my eyelids. He quizzed me to see if we could figure out how this happened. The range of possibilities of how is pretty large and we gave up trying to find the answer. I was relieved it was not a staph infection.

He wrote me a prescription for a creme to put on my eyelids and said it would cost at least $100 if not more. This creme could get into my eyes with no side effects. However, I could just buy an over the counter creme with cortizone which costs about $7-8 for a tube. The problem with using this topical creme is it should not get into your eyes. I opted of course for the less expensive solution.

I am writing this just in case someone else experiences this problem. Going to and back from my Dr. office plus my office time took about 3.5 hours of my day. His office is close to the Houston Medical Center corridor. The simple solution is to buy a topical creme with hydrocortisone as  an ingredient and save the time and money of a Dr.’s appointment. I had no idea you get an allergy attack of your eyelids! My eyes are better now but still not 100%.

Simple and inexpensive always work for me. How about you?

Very interesting an allergy attack would affect your eyelids.

Good luck and success.

For several years back in the 1980s, I suffered through a condition that kept my eyelids irritated, and a bit red.  I couldn't get rid of it with anything.  Then I went to the doctor because of something unrelated, and he noticed my eyelids, and put something on them, right there in the office, and it never returned!  I do not know what it was however.

I like simple and inexpensive, too, but please don't get this in your eye.

I had no idea an allergy could affect the eyelids. I have gotten itchy and watery eyes, but haven't had any other issues like you've had. Take care. I hope it clears up soon.
