What's Happening Around Atlanta for the Holidays?

 

The holiday season is upon us and there is so much to do around the Atlanta area. Whether you like concerts, plays, outdoor activities or just looking at the beautiful Christmas lights, there is something fun to do for people of all ages. Here's a list that I've compiled of some Atlanta area holiday happenings for you to check out while you have some time off:

 

Alliance Theatre presents A Christmas Carol

The classic Charles Dickens story is presented on the Alliance stage with an all-star cast of Atlanta performers.  This is a holiday event tells a story that teaches a valuable lesson and is sure to please the entire family.  More information about the Alliance Theatre.

 

Stone Mountain Park - Stone Mountain Christmas 

Stone Mountain Christmas will feature lights, live musical performances, holiday characters like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and a walk-through adventure where you can see light shows with special effects and take pictures.  More information about Stone Mountain Park.  

 

Six Flags Over Georgia - Holiday in the Park

Who knew that Six Flags was open for the Christmas holidays?  If you love a good roller coaster, be sure to check out the Batman ride and the Georgia Cyclone. The park is all decked out with amazing light displays that will surely make the rides even more fun.  Six Flags also has some special holiday shows and food for the Christmas season.  Be on the lookout for a place at Six Flags called "S'mores Village" where you can actually create your own s'mores! Lake Lanier Islands - Magical Lights

The Magical Lights at Lake Lanier Islands will delight everyone in your family as you drive down a seven mile stretch of winding roads to observe the spectacular light displays and end your journey at Santa's Workshop. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra - A Very Merry Holiday POPS!

Get ready to enjoy the extraordinary Atlanta Symphony Orchestra presenting some of your favorite Christmas tunes.  Get your tickets quickly because there are only three performances, 8:00pm on Friday, December 16th and 2:00pm and 8:00pm on Saturday, December 17th.  More information about the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

 

Porter Sanford Arts Center presents Urban Nutcracker II -- Wonderland

This dance presentation from the Ballethnic Dance Company is a soulful adaptation of a holiday classic and showcases the talents of a multicultural group of dancers.  With a cast of characters with names like "Brown Sugar" and "Chocolatier", this production is not to be missed.
