Here it is again, the dreaded Monday. Recently I’ve discovered that Mondays need not be that way. You know which way I’m talking about. We all seem to hate Monday, we all seem to dread its weekly arrival. Let’s face it: having a weekend off naturally makes us wish for more. We’re kind of a lazy bunch when it comes to time off because it’s so darned enjoyable to not have to go in to work.
Mondays need not be that way anymore. We can mix it up a little, making Monday a day we look forward to. It may not be easy, but it can be done. If we challenge ourselves and convince ourselves that Mondays will be the day to change our status quo, we can face them with anticipation and joy.
Most of us look forward to Fridays because it signals the start of the weekend. What I now do, however, is to make Fridays my official work day, setting things up for the following week. Fridays are not to be welcomed! They are to be the day I clean up everything, the day I catch up on work, and the day that is so full of work that it’s hard to finish on time. When I do this, Mondays no longer are a dread to me. I actually look forward to Mondays because now Monday signal the beginning of a work week that challenges me. I don’t even have to work that hard on Mondays, so Mondays need not be that way anymore!
Honestly, this blog may seem a bit silly, but whatever day you choose to be your “go to” day is okay as long as you choose one. Part of your planning should be to plan on a weekly basis. I prefer to make Fridays a work day rather than a slack off day because it does set the tone for an enjoyable weekend. When I’ve finished all my projects for the week, I know that after the weekend comes a new beginning and that’s how I choose to view Mondays.
TEAM Hughes Real Estate School is a school that plans. Our classes usually begin on Mondays, so we can’t really afford to hate or dread each Monday. To us, Mondays are exciting. The first day of a class is always a challenge, and we never know what to expect. Mondays set the tone for the rest of week and gives us a chance to get to know our students. For years, I dreaded Mondays because I had to go back to work. I don’t dread them anymore. I embrace them, and I find that gets me off to a good start. If this tip helps you in your attitude, I am happy to pass it on. If it doesn’t, then keep dreading the work week, but believe me, Mondays need not be that anymore! I’d love to talk with you, so call me if I can be of some kind of help in your life!
