Francis William was born in Harborne, Birmingham, England back in 1877 to William and Fanny. Educated at Harborne Vicarage School and Malvern College. From 1896 he researched organic chemistry in a private laboratory at his father’s house.
His interest to fermentation chemistry and he worked for the W. Butler & Co. Brewery from 1900-03 when he returned to the University of Birmingham as an Associate. He received a scholarship and as such continued research with the discovery of X-rays and radioactivity.
A never-ending longing for knowledge kept him active as with the invention of motorized vehicles he built a combustion engine of his own in 1902. Just to give you an example of how talented this man was he was involved in cross-country skiing, skating, cycling, swimming, golf (my favorite), and tennis. He was an accomplished musician playing the piano, violin and cello. One other thing he was a skilled photographer and spent some of his time studying astronomy. He died in 1945 at 68.
Now for the all-important question, sorry I almost forgot to tell you I’m writing about Francis William Aston. Still doesn’t ring a bell, hmm let’s see he won the 1922 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his discovery of the mass spectrograph of isotopes and for his enunciation of the whole number rule. Just like me I’m always on the quest for knowledge about real estate. However, not to the extent as Mr. Aston, my brain capabilities are just not there. So, tell me are you always on the quest for knowledge about real estate? If not, why not?
