Have You Ever Dropped Your Laptop on the Floor?

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

For years, I have taken my laptop with me during my wor-cations. OK, I did not take it to Cuba but that was one destination where I had to buy internet minutes, about $10 for an hour, and the WiFi did not always work, so I used my cellphone instead. And only for 2 hours during the 2 weeks we were there. It was a terrible connection, and you had to stand in one spot at the hotel.

Plus I figured I was more likely to have my laptop confiscated than to actually use it, so I left it at home. But a laptop is essential for my wor-cations. I can't type on an iPad. Breaking my laptop would result in the Apocalypse. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: What Happens When You Drop a Laptop?

Elizabeth: Now you have to give Pele, the goddess of fire, lightning, wind, volcanoes and probably laptops, a thank you gift. If you can't find someone willing to be sacrificed, she does love Gin, I understand. You do need to heave it into Halemaumau Crater at the summit of Kilauea, the active volcano.

Thankfully, I have never dropped my laptop on the floor. I have dropped my cell phones several times with no resulting damage.

Roy Kelley Let's hope you never drop your laptop. Before yesterday, I never dropped my laptop either. I did send my cellphone skidding out into traffic running across lanes at the airport earlier this year, but fortunately the casing protected it and nobody ran over it. I probably would have let a car run over me to stop it from running over my cellphone, LOL.

When you pay as much as I do on Apple MBPs then caution is your watchword.

I never imagined I would drop the Mac Pro. I've never even come close to it until yesterday. One of those perfect storm situations.

Sheila Anderson I didn't try internet at Hotel Nacional but the connection at Capri was terrible, and down at a resort in Trinidad it took 30 minutes just to download email.

Gabe Sanders Well, so far. Not counting my chickens until I get back home. Hopefully, I won't go through this again.

Hi Elizabeth -- I dropped it on the cat once and the sound was likely similar to what you heard.  No damage of the feline or tech variety.

I wonder if that solid state drive was the reason it booted back up without delay.  My husband has one in his laptop and has had that issue and the damn thing seems indestructible.

Oh, how timely is this but, Ray just dropped his on the tile floor on our patio yesterday, Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents!  The battery went flying and I could only imagine that I was going to have to run out and buy him a new laptop!  Thankfully, the battery popped right back in and the laptop fired right up!  Catastrophe averted!
