Spacious Storage Sings 'SOLD'...Carlisle, PA.

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams of Central PA RS334568

What is the 'MUST HAVE' on your New Home List?
Some may be singing "I'm dreaming of a white kitchen" -
For others, perhaps vaulted ceilings, wood floors, or attached garage...??

In addition to the standard 'must-have' items, some sellers may not have considered that most buyers are VERY interested in hidden storage space. Most people have excess 'stuff' and are looking for deep uncluttered closets with shelving, and well organized unfinished basement areas to accommodate their collected treasures.

When touring a home, a buyer is usually considering if their 'stuff' will fit in the home's 'space' - so I always emphasize to a seller the huge importance of taking some time to be sure that in addition to the open home areas being neat and clean, be sure your 'out-of-sight storage areas are tidy too.

Some things to consider:
- Are books stacked like skyscrapers ready to tumble?
- Are clothes jam packed into closets?

- Are shoes thrown into a heap?
- Are toys and games a jumbled explosion?

In essence, Do the storage spaces seem like a cluttered mess?

It's simple...An organized space is an appealing space.

Hi Maria - It seems like the more hiden storage space the more people find ways to fill it up.

Very true, Maria.  And, I am often amazed at the clutter that is hiding some storage areas in homes we see.

Great post Maria Sapio this is especially important in my area where we do not have basements for storage.  Showcasing your storage is a real key to successful selling here in Austin.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - When viewing an occupied home, cluttered spaces (regardless of how spacious) give the appearance of being too small... so I agree with you wholeheartedly - organized storage is a Must !!  Thank you -

Grant Schneider - So very true - perhaps homes of the future will have a storage unit in the yard space?  The bigger question is why do people have so much stuff?  I guess that's a rhetorical question though ...
Enjoy your weekend!
