The Hawaiian language is alive and well here in the islands. Most locals don’t speak it fluently but almost everyone will know the most common words and phrases. Even visitors pick up some basics like Aloha (hello, goodbye, love), Mahalo (thanks), Makai (toward the ocean) and Ono (delicious).
