Are You a Sunrise or a Sunset Person?

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Above is a photo I shot a few days ago before the SuperMoon in Hawaii, just as the sun settled into the sky in Kailua-Kona. That ubiquitous "they" say you are either a sunset person or a sunrise person. I like both, actually, but if I had to choose just one, let's just say I'm glad my back yard faces West, and I get this view from my kitchen.

Which is pretty much where I've been relegated to work in Hawaii (in the kitchen), as the home improvement projects go on and I continue to balance my real estate clients in Sacramento with the demands of finishing up projects. You can read more in my personal blog today and see the photo of a sandpiper at this link: Clients Win by Listening to Their Sacramento Agent.

I'm with you!!!!  I like both.  Although, I usually see about 80% more sunsets than sunrises!

Good morning, Elizabeth -- I also like both but certainly appreciate the solitude of the morning and a certain crispness in the air -- full of opportunity where even a one-legged sandpiper can provide pause for thought.   Good luck with the remodeling projects.

Are you sure that leg was missing on the bird?  I took this picture while at the beach a few years ago and it was alternating feet on the hot sand.

Chris Ann Cleland You could be right! Although it wasn' really hot, maybe 75. I stared at that bird for a long time. Drove my SUV right up alongside and rolled down my window, letting the engine idle as I shot several pictures. He was sleeping. But when he woke up, why wouldn't he have put down both feet?

Good point.  I think he would have.

Maria Sapio Thank you. It's been raining for almost 12 days straight, which is unusual for this time of year in Kona, so I have not had a lot of opportunities to shoot a sunset photo.

Belinda Spillman I see a lot of sunrises in the winter. Not so much in the summer because it's generally the light outside that wakes me. Sunrises, while often invigorating, are not as beautiful as many sunsets.

Michael Jacobs Don't get me started on the remodeling. I must need my head examined to have undertaken this chore at this point. My painter wandered off today for 4 hours, and he has only one more day to finish his job because the flooring guys start Thursday.

It took him 3 hours today to tape off 2 rooms. At the rate he's going, he'll be here until 10 PM tonight.

Elizabeth: You are becoming quite the kamaaina there in Kailu-Kona. Your going to the Christmas festivities at the King Kam sent a flashback when I was on the pier watching the original hotel being imploded back in the '70s. It was located really close to the beach and they built the new/current one right behind it. We all held our breath, I can tell you.

Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® It was an experience, and I enjoy new things. It's how I decide if I will do them again. My tenants asked me to go; it felt rude not to when they went to such trouble to welcome me. And besides, like they say here on Kona, what else is there to do? Still a malihini. No kamaaina. Altho I can tell you that Costco membership is a step in the right direction.

I also like to watch buildings get torn down.

The $10 certificate for Costco arrived! Will spend it in Hawaii next week on some ahi limu poke, my favorite fresh seafood.

I'm pretty partial to both sunrises and sunsets.  One of the best places I tried to decide, was down in the Florida Keys.  You'd look East in the morning and have the most amazing sunrises; only to sometimes be outdone in the evening when you turned 180 degrees and looked west at a gorgeous sunset.

Myrl Jeffcoat It was your trip to the Florida Keys, you know, that inspired my trip to Islamorada and Key West!
