It is wonderful to live in a community where the local government listens to its residents. According to an article published by Bethesda Magazine, Montgomery County has listened to the people when it comes to having access to reliable information during winter storms. In response to requests for improvements, and a number of complaints, the county has launched a new Winter Storm Portal, where you can get up-to-date information about our roads when the weather turns foul.
Gone is the snow map from the Montgomery County website. In its place will be a real-time portal where residents can search under their address for key information. This includes a snow plowing schedule, and confirmation of jurisdiction regarding road maintenance. You can even request that your street be salted.
Montgomery County is also responding to concerns about accessing the MC311 Help & Service line during winter storms. With last winter’s big snow storms, the center was inundated with calls, keeping many residents waiting for long periods. To keep phone lines open in the case of a winter storm, or another major event, the County will now have extra personnel on duty during these times.
This will be done through a contract with a phone service vendor. With the capability of handling up to 12,000 calls a day, this additional service team will help field the thousands of calls a winter storm can instigate. In addition to this, there is a new call center where the latest in technology will also help calls get handled efficiently. Providing Montgomery County residents with answers to most any county service, program or regulation, MC311 also has a website worth checking out.
It’s important to keep up-to-date when it comes to winter weather, and Montgomery County understands this.
