Through the years many people often comment to me on downtown San Antonio and our beautiful
River walk but if they haven't seen it during the Holiday season they have not really seen it in all its
glory!
Last night I finished work early and decided that it was time for me to enjoy some holiday cheer. So, i
headed downtown to take it all in. First, I visited our new Briscoe Museum of Western Art - great
western art and in such a grand building. (The building was orginally SA's first library building.)
Enjoyed it tremendously and they did a great job but do miss the wonderful Hertzberg circus
museum which used to be housed there. Then dropped by Schilo's for a delicious and affordable
German influenced dinner. After that went for a walk on our beautiful Holiday lit Riverwalk. All the
hotels, shops and restaurants were beautifully lighted and sparkled with the Christmas spirit. Tourists
frequently comment on how the Riverwalk dazzles at Christmas and it certainly does. Then concluded
by going by the Alamo. Every year grocer HEB donates a big beautiful decorated lighted Christmas tree
and puts it up in front of the Alamo. All this combined with the city's lighting of all the trees in Alamo
Plaza make for a lovely sight. All in all if you get the chance be sure to take in San Antonio at Christmas
time.
