The most essential quality to sales success or really any success in your life - is your ability to maintain confidence when times get tough.
When it seems like everything around you is falling apart, its more important then every to remain focused and confident and to keep a positive attitude!
Its easy to have your attitude and emotions follow a roller coaster ride ...
When the world around you appears to be going up and down... falling into the trap of being a victim of your environment..can be an easy road to travel.
What keeps your confidence intact has a lot to do with resilience. The ability to bounce back, recover your strength; keeping a good mood and positive attitude even amidst adversity. This is when its important to let the ‘negatives' roll off ...like water off a duck's back and this is the time to gather info on whats not working so you can prepare yourself for the next step!
Ways to Stay Confident....3 Tips!
1.) Implement rather then procrastinate! At times like this we often hear people say things like ‘that will never work' ....but frankly more often then not ‘just doing it'.....often works. Being proactive even if there is no guarantee of the outcome. Its still better then being the ‘apathetic victim'. That's not to say that sometimes the action doesn't backfire....but in the very ‘action' you can get knowledge feedback....and experience even from the very act of messing up.
A great example is cold calling.....You know how we wait to be 100% prepared before making the call? And as a result we don't end up making the call or leaving it too late?.......Well instead.....just make it! As a matter of fact Make extra calls!
2.) Find a Mentor - Its so essential to have someone who believes in you - although it doesn't have to be a person....it could be a book or even a quote! - Its so important to have someone in your corner... especially when times get tough. Bone honest mentors won't sugar coat things for you....they'll actually teach you valuable lessons...and often provide you with the 'wind beneath your sail'.
3.) The company you keep...What you think about and who you surround yourself with determines your attitude and confidence more than any other factor. Negative people around you can start to rub off. There are moments when all of us feel down...but to constantly be in the company of 'doomsayers'...can be like quicksand. I guess that brings us back to the old adage, "You can't fly with the eagles
If you continue to scratch with the turkeys......
