Congratulations! You have taken the first step to wealth building! You are going to buy a home.  This is a crucial decision.  With home ownership comes equity, tax deductions - and stability.  The real distinction between people with assets in this country and those without is home ownership.  It is transformative to your bottom line so lets start looking!

Your first home doesn't have to be expensive.  Did you know you can find lots of condos in Alexandria under $300,000?  There are older condos along Edsall Road and newer ones there too! There are newer condos under $300,000 at Midtown Alexandria Station, on Midtown Avenue near the Huntington Metro. Another good option for newer condos is the Exchange at Van Dorn, garden style condos located on Eisenhower Avenue near the Cameron Run Regional Park and Cameron Station.

If you want to be right in Old Town Alexandria, you should consider the Port Royal building right on Pitt Street. You will find studios with great views of the city there for an amazingly low price.  These are a perfect pied a terre for someone working at the Pentagon during the week or a student who wants the charm and history of Old Town!

There are even 3 bedroom townhomes to be found in Alexandria for less than $300,000. Don't assume that just because you can't afford a lot you can't buy a lot of space.  You just need to work with the right Realtor!  You need a Realtor who knows the neighborhoods, the micro market and the process of buying a home there.  You need a Realtor who can tell you whether this is a good deal, a bad deal or a great deal. This purchase is about so much more than bricks and mortar.  This is about your future home - your dream, your wealth building. You don't want to live with your decision - you want to love it!

WHERE TO LIVE IN  ALEXANDRIA

Neighborhoods in Alexandria include Old Town, Eisenhower Valley, Rosemont, The Berg, Parker-Gray, Del Ray, Arlandria, West End, and North Ridge.

Many neighborhoods and cities outside of the city limits, including Hollins Hills, Franconia, Groveton, Huntington, Belle Haven, Hybla Valley, Mount Vernon, Engleside, Burgundy Village, Rose Hills, and Kingstowne. These areas are actually part of Fairfax County, not the City of Alexandria.

Old Town Alexandria is one of my favorite parts of the DC Metro area.  It is a beautifully-preserved historic district on the Potomac River and the heart of the city that our first President, George Washington, called home. Today Old Town still has cobblestone streets and red brick sidewalks that evoke the early days of our nation's founding.  There is more to Old Town however than history.  There are great shops, restaurants, art galleries and fun events nearly every weekend.

Old Town is tucked between the George Washington Masonic Memorial and the Potomac River, with lots of restaurants with waterfront views. For art, don't miss the Torpedo Factory, a repurposed building that houses a great collection of art galleries and work spaces for the artists.

Shopping is great along King Street, the main throughfare of Old Town, filled with stores, outdoor cafes and restaurants! Chances are everything you want and somethings you didn't even know you needed can be found on King Street! To get there easily from around the DC metro area, you can take the metro to the King Street stop.

Whether you're museum-goers, art enthusiasts, or shoppers there are always things to do in Old Town Alexandria.
