Could Wrigley Field Be Rumi’s Field? Will We Meet You There?

Reblogger Patricia Kennedy

I just love this post!  With all of the craziness in the world these days, ideal like this can keep the world fun and maybe even a little safer.  Hmmm.  I must learn more about this Rumi guy.

A recent Wall Street Journal article inspired this post. It was titled: The Chicago Cubs are the Official Team of Jews—Also Christians, Buddhists and Muslims!” At first, it made no sense to us. Was this some politically correct doublespeak?

The article went on to explain that pundits from all these religions mentioned have agreed that the Cubs will win the World Series. Each is using their interpretations of numbers that are a part of their religious writings, theories of meaningful numbers. Finally, something that they all can agree upon! Then, this evening, as we were sipping some Sagrantino wine from Umbria made from Sagrantino grapes, it came to me (A) that perhaps Wrigley Field could be the field about which the Suffi Moslem mystic, Rumi, referred. Here is the quote:

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing

and right doing there is a field.

I’ll meet you there."

We could not help but reflect on the idea that all of us should try to find such a field, where it is safe to be friends, instead of enemies based on beliefs, dogmas and past wrongdoings. Will we meet you in Rumi’s field?

Thanks for sharing this blog with us again; another important one that I missed and I appreciate your reblog.  I hope someday we can all live in a world where we're not competing religiously for who is the best or who is the only one Patricia Kennedy

Good morning Patricia,

I missed this one and is a great one to reblog.

Maybe one day when the ego's and power mongrels leave we might have a chance.

Good thing they were not using common core math or the Indian's would have won!

Make yourself an astonishing day.

Thank you Patricia.  I agree this world is getting wacky, and I think we all need to learn how to build bridges instead of create bigger chasms.  I appreciate your reblogging this post.  A

One of my buddies at the coffee place I spend my lunchtimes is an expert on Rumi. I guess he is the Persian Shakespeare/Sartre.

Why are we always trying to tear down bridges instead of making them

Jane, a dear friend grew up in Iran, where her father was a US diplomat for many years.  The Shah was still in power.  And she was totally into Rumi and I got a bit of an introduction.

Bob, this is a wonderful concept.

And it took my knees about two months to get to the point that they were a lot better than before.  Now, three years later, I am so glad that I had them replaced.
