Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Leaders
First I wanted everyone to be aware, if you are not already, that May is Military Appreciation Month. Along those lines we are working hard to get as many packages out to our military contacts as possible.  We also have a G.S. troop that is doing a project of writing cards and filling small packages for our service members that are deployed.  Feel free to do some type of collection, card writing campaign, etc. in your organization, or your office and pass it along to us to be distributed to our military.
We are also in the process of collecting any Red/White/Blue items for shipping in early June in recognition of Independence Day.  We want the service members to have lots of decorations, games, etc.  Of course the most requested items in the summer months are those drink mixes in indiv. packets for water bottles. Lots of salty snacks to go with them would be nice too (to help them retain water).
The homecoming of the troops in Leesburg last Friday was a sight to behold.  I was able to meet the commander of C company and his family, that we had been sending packages to, and who also wrote us some nice thank-you cards. I left our poster behind at the Armory for the troops to enjoy when they come to the Armory.
Next I wanted to give everyone notice that we are accepting nominations for Operation Pinecone board members.  The Annual Meeting for current board members is scheduled for Monday, May 12th.  At this meeting we will hold elections for 5 seats on the board of directors for Operation Pinecone, from the nominations we have received.  If you are interested in becoming more involved in Operation Pinecone, you MAY nominate yourself and you may nominate yourself for more than one position.
Board positions are: President, V.Pres., Treasurer and two Directors.
If you are interested, please send me an e-mail letting us know what Position(s) you are interested in filling and if you have any experience with the non-profit sector or sitting on any boards in the past.  Experience is not necessary though.  Nomination deadline is May 10th at 12:00pm.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Nancy - sending packages is a great idea anytime - thanks for pushing during Military Appreciation Month.  I'm trying to remember - I think Walgreens has those individual drink packets in $1.00 boxes - does anyone else have a better idea where to find them? And where is the best place to drop off supplies?

Nancy - Supporting our military just gives you a warm feel good. We send boxes to sons of fellow agents who are serving.
