Holiday Hayride, New Milford, CT 2016.
Well, it has come and gone, and it was a rousing success yet again! Our annual Holiday Hayride and visit with Santa was well attended, despite the frigid temps outside. From what I could see, everyone enjoyed themselves immensely!
I want to thank HVI (Housatonic Valley Insurance) and Bank Street Theater for joining us to provide this fun, free event to all. Your hard work, dedication and generosity is heartwarming. The horses and wagon from Utopia Percheron in Goshen, CT were a big hit too. I didn't get to ride in the wagon this year due to an injury, but next year for sure! And I want to thank my co workers at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties.
Of course let's not forget the big man himself! Santa and Mrs. Claus were, as always, a big hit. This year I was stationed inside with Santa for the most part and I got to witness the joy and exuberance, the awe and wonder on the faces of the children. Oh, plus a bit of fear in some. It made my day!
I didn't get to take many photos, I am recovering from a broken rib. But I did manage to get one of Santa and Mrs. C at the end of the night.
As if all this wasn't enough, the generosity showed by the people who attended blew me away. We were able to donate $270 to the town of New Milford for the food and fuel bank. I delivered the money to Peg Molina, director of social services in New Milford today. She was ever so grateful to everyone who donated. Every little bit helps! I can't help but think that it just goes to show you how wonderful people are. Stretched to the max with their own holiday gifts, they still opened up their hearts and wallets to those in need. 2 hours, $270... I'm happy with that!
I will see you again next year! We are already reserving the wagon and horses....
Merry Christmas to all!
