My very favorite part of being a Realtor, by far, is the community of real estate. I know TV shows portray us as competitive, back-stabbing and in it for the win above all else. But, my experiences are completely contrary to those portrayals. Here are some of my very favorite parts (and people) of being in real estate for 2016:
1) Clients--once you are working with a client you become an inseparable team. Clients, I have found, become friends, cheerleaders, referrers and best of all a constant reminder of a job well done. Every time a past client calls with a real estate question, an ask for a vendor referral or "likes"/ comments on your Facebook business page you know you have made a positive difference and best of all, made a friend.
2) Top Agents at Coldwell Banker--maybe it is just my office, but top agents I work with are literally ALWAYS available for a quick question, a meeting, a contract review, strategy session or pep talk.
3) Active Rain--What an amazing community. I've learned so much from the amazing contributors here through blog posts, questions, the awesome pod casts and training. Thanks Dorie Dillard for getting me involved.
4) Our brokerage--Our managing director @teresarecar is a great business coach, the office atmosphere is fun and inspiring and the office staff incredibly knowledgeable and responsive. I've met so many great friends within our four walls.
5) Partners--I'm not sure I would be able to survive without our vendor partners. I've learned so much from our mortgage companies, title companies and builder community. So many lunch and learns, one-on-one meetings, blog content support and training.
6) ABOR--Our board is really top notch. The staff, services, building (it is beautiful) and most of all education is always great. I've never had an association be so member-focused. I received training on a myriad of things including technology, ethics as well as my classes for CHMS and GRI.
This is truly a great industry and I can't wait to see what new people I meet, work with and work for in 2017.
