The Winter Solstice The shortest Day of The Year

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Professionals, CT 203-206-0754 REB.0759001

The winter Solstice s December 21, which is the day the earth's axis is tilted so that the daylight we receive is the shortest of the year.  This is often called the shortest day of the year but all days are 24 hours long, plus a fraction that is made up every 4 years and called leap year.

So I do what I can with the daylight available, and let my mind wander to other pleasant times when daylight disappeared with more elegance.

Ed, I just came from Debbie Laity  post and must admit the comment I mentioned on her post applies here too. We are getting worse with our language and are very imprecise... excellent point, the days are always 24 hrs long:))Endre

Hi Ed, first, that's a beautiful picture. I'm thankful for the sunlight we had today, I must admit, I was busy on my computer so didn't even see the sunset, there will be another one tomorrow, until the, like you, I'll let my mind wander away into beautiful things.

Ed- I am ready for more daylight hours!  We love our morning walks along the beach and when it's still light out, love to go for walks around the neighborhood.

You have a good mind, Ed, no matter what the season. Since it seems to be Winter Solstice, it's only fitting that elk came to graze in my pasture around 3:30 and caused quite the stir with my Princess Pearl (our Palomino).. I believe it must have been a first for her! I watched her stamp and snort and prance around, all huff and bother. The elk couldn't have cared less, frankly. She actually got quite close to them and I took a few photos, but haven't edited them yet.

Ahhh, winter! Such delights, if you look for them!

Ed, Ed, Ed, I was in the middle of the field yesterday at sunrise to welcome the sunrise at 7:17 AM. It was perfect! Even if there was a bit of a chill in the air (sarcasm intended) and snow on the ground.

I have enough Born Again Pagan in me to always look forward to Winter Solstice, and the approaching longer days.  There's a reason we have Yule trees!

I now have longer days to look forward to since the shortest day is done. I love the long days of summer and function so much better with lots of daylight and sunshine.
