I received an email from the White House. A very nice one. With greetings. So well written...
But after yesterdays betrayal of Israel and US, it is a sour note in the spirit of coming Christmas.
I can't believe the President would do it in his last weeks, perfectly knowing that the new administration is coming, and that it was opposed to it. So, the country will be in a shameful position when it would start dismantling what Obama is leaving as his legacy. There was enough of it already, did he really need to add yet another road block to remove?
Look at the world. 8 years of weakness brought it all upon us. No, we did not have ISIS 8 years ago. And no, we did not get ISIS because Bush went into Iraq, but rather when the sitting President exercised highly political withdrawal. Remember why he did it? Not because it was prudent to do, but because he said he would do it. And the way we withdrew caused the void, but wasn't it his job to predict? Or even to listen to those who warned him from doing it so hurriedly?
8 years ago we still had the borders set after the WWII, and then came Crimea, and it was under President Obama. And Putin gave all the time to Obama to react, and there were several days, before the Russian Duma voted for annexation, and Obama kept quiet... appeasing Putin. And then came the war in Eastern Ukraine, and it is a direct result of our weakness... But not only we did protect Ukraine, as we agreed in Budapest in 1994, when we were one of the guarantors of their border security in exchange of the Ukraine giving up their nuclear arsenal, we did not even give the the means to defend themselves... again, appeasing Putin.
We made a deal with devil allowing Iran to soon have the nukes. Because today the President is taking credit for it, and it would be a difficult task to deal with ramifications for another President...
And the President is bragging about his role in history? His legacy?
At least in foreign affairs it is a shameful one.
It is a failure.
And it is a shame that the President couldn't restrain and not to stab our only friend in the region.
But some people, including Presidents, do not know shame.
So, thank you, WH, for a nice card, for Christmas Greetings. Your words are better than your deeds, but we already know it anyway.
