Apache Shores-- An Atypical Lake Austin Community

By

Many people who live in the Austin area don't know about a hidden gem of a neighborhood right near Hudson Bend called Apache Shores.

Apache Shores is an extremely diverse community hidden from view off RR 620 and General Williamson. But behind Hudson Bend middle school and Maravilla lies the hills, valleys and lakefront of Apache Shores.   The community is anything but cookie-cutter with mansions next to trailers and everything in between and home values just as diverse.  What this community boasts won't fit in this short blog post but includes:

1)  Riverside Park on Lake Austin which has a private boat dock and also offers day docking, grilling & picnic facilities.

2) Geronimo park with a playscape and frisbee golf course

3) Indian Creek and Lake Apache trails with sometimes waterfalls

4) Community Center with event space, pool, basketball, tennis and open sports fields

5) Very Low HOA--$135 year which covers all the amenities above

Residents live here for the tremedous remote feeling and being within nature.  And many homes have  amazing hill country views or views and direct access to Lake Austin. The lifestyle is very laid back with an active but non-restrictive HOA.

History of Apache Shores

Apache Shores began in 1967 when a Resort group purchased the land from rancher and oilman Jack Josey; who owned all the land between Mansfield Dam and HWY 71.  This group wanted to build a resort for people who liked summer lake living.  Many of the first land owners built trailers for seasonal use, and It wasn't unitl the new millenium that people started building many of the bigger houses you see today.  There are well over 500 homes in Apache Shores and around 3,000 total lots.

Today the diversity of the area is celebrated by the owners who appreciate the ecclectic nature and history of the area.  If you are looking for a home in this type of community give me a call. I live, work and really enjoy this area around Hudson Bend and would love to share my community with you and help you find your new house!
