The Carlsbad View of Snow

A Carlsbad View of Snow

Winter has come to Southern California, which means I can see snow on a number of distant mountains. And I like that just fine.

Snow on mountains seen from Carlsbad

After all I left New England for Carlsbad to get away from the snow, but seeing it on these mountains that are quite some distance away suits me just fine. If I want to enjoy it in person I can get there in a couple of hours. But for those Carlsbadians who like to ski and snowboard, it's a treat to have it relatively close. You can hit the surf in the morning and go skiing in the afternoon!

Very pretty as long as winter is something you view in the distance. Happy New Year to you!

Nina Hollander  - I "enjoyed" it for many years and now I'm done. I can always watch the weather channel if I need a fix and then realize how much I don't miss it.

It's fun to see it as a distance and know it's there if I want to see it up close Sharon Tara . I've only been in light snow twice in the last 11 years when traveling and that suits me just fine!

Ha ha Nick & Trudy Vandekar  I get that!

Joe Pryor  - I like the snow at a distance, and the cold. It gets cool enough for my taste here in the winter! Happy New Year!

Funny Ed Silva . No I was at the dog park near my home (no, no dog for me, just great views). I think these mountains are about 90 miles away.

Gabe Sanders  - makes sense to me!

Patricia Feager  - and there are plenty of others here who feel the same way

Debbie Reynolds  - I know a fair number of people who do both, although not necessarily in the same day, but it IS an option.

Hi Hannah Williams  - and didn't you just have a lot of cold weather??

Jeff so funny I was driving past Down Town Los Angeles and heading to one of my land listings in Highland Park and had to admire the snow capped mountains... traffic was crazy so I did not take a picture but looked just like your photo, Endre

That's pretty ironic, Endre Barath, Jr.   Some of the views around LA are pretty impressive!

It's a good use of the mountains for those that enjoy it, Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, Broker, Tacoma Washington

Good morning Jeff.  High in the mid to upper 50's today and by this time next week they will fall like a rock.  I know that white stuff is coming, it does get interesting around here as a lot of people can't drive right when it snows..

Hi Jeff - I always find it unique about Southern California that you could choose the same day to go to the beach or go skiiing.

In Virginia, there are no snow topped mountains in the distance.  If you can see snow, you are likely standing it.  And that's when we usually want what you have with those long distance views.

Beautiful shots.  It's inspiring (and a bit distracting) to drive past those mountains every day.  After this past weekends dump, they looked more like the Rockies than our local mountains

Hi John Meussner

Yep they really look different now don't they. I like that I can enjoy them from a distance and can visit if I want, but don't have to deal with the pain and suffering of shoveling snow! LOL.

Kasey & John Boles and the team at Jon Gosche Real Estate, LLC  - those are close-up photos. The mountains are actually quite a distance, at least a couple of hours. But the view is kinda neat, and yes it's nice to know that IF you want to enjoy it you can.
