People are always asking me, "So, how do you like Real Estate?"
The truth is, I love the notion of helping people through the process of buying and/or selling a home. I also understand that for some clients the process is seasoned with a variety of emotions ranging from pure enthusiasm to sheer terror and I'm the one they contact to purge whatever my client is feeling in that moment.
Most of my day on Christmas Eve 2016 I spent playing ping-pong. Actually, I was the ping-pong ball and I bounced back and forth with all involved parties to finalize an offer. It was stressful for many and I had to remain as calm and cool as a ping-pong ball and keep everyone well informed while desperately keeping my cool. Yes, I'm human and at 11:30PM I was tired and my brain was fried but I knew that the players were still holding their paddles so the game wasn't over. I am thankful to report that at 11:43PM Christmas Eve everyone was finally in agreement.
Buyers and sellers rarely get everything they demand in a transaction. Real Estate is about negotiating and coming to a mutual consent with give-and-take. When negotiations are in full force, buyers and sellers can get wrapped up in the game and lose direction. It is during this emotional frenzy that the buyer and seller must have an agent that can listen and help re-focus the negotiations back to the matters of significance.
So, how do I like Real Estate? I know that what I do matters. There are few things that compare to seeing a client holding the SOLD sign with tears streaming down their face, or a client saying, "I trust you more than anyone I know" or being the first phone call when a client wants to share the exciting news that she's pregnant.
Being a Realtor can be likened unto standing in the midst of what may sometimes feel like a nightmare and shining a light of encouragement as we watch dreams emerge...!!
